What a mess, but so satisfying!
Wendy stood off to the side, looking down at Sarah with an expression that could only be described as disdain, like she was watching a stray dog struggling after falling into a river.
Look at this disgraceful behavior. Throwing a tantrum at the slightest trouble-this was Juniper's "well-behaved and sensible" daughter?
Juniper rushed over, frantically helping the tear-streaked Sarah to her feet, then shot a venomous glare at Wendy.
"You vile woman! How dare you treat,my daughter like this! This is the Collins family's territory, and we won't tolerate your insolence!"
What was supposed to be a grand party had been turned into a chaotic mess by Wendy.
Ethan stood nearby, his brow furrowed in frustration.
He couldn't understand why Sarah insisted on provoking Wendy.
Now, the scene of Sarah entangled with that strange man had been exposed to everyone, and he felt nothing but shame. It was utterly humiliating!
"Wendy, did you really switch the photos on the big screen?" Ethan asked.his voice cold and barely containing his anger.
"I did." Wendy's expression was icy, her tone unwavering.
Ethan looked at her with a mix of disappointment and fury. "Was it really
you? Why did you hurt Sarah?"
"Maybe you should ask Sarah what her original plan was," Wendy sneered and looked at Sarah coldly
Lydia quickly stepped in to diffuse the tension. "Alright, Ethan, don't get yourself worked up."
She then turned to Wendy, forcing a smile. "Wendy,no matter what,Sarah had called you sister-in-law for three years! Today is Sarah's birthday party."
"She invited you out of old affection, hoping to mend things between you.Why be so confrontational?"
As she spoke, she pretended to wipe away a tear, as if extremely aggrieved for Sarah.
Wendy's lips curled into a mocking smile. "Ethan, when I married into the Collins family three years ago, did Sarah ever truly treat me as her sister-in-law? You know the answer. She saw me as nothing more than a free servant! For three years, I treated her with kindness, but she never stopped causing trouble for me."
She continued, "At the Turner family's party, she deliberately humiliated me,and this time she tried to show defamatory photos of me on the big screen. I simply beat her to the punch."
Juniper's anger flared uncontrollably. "You're lying! Sarah is kind-hearted,and today is her birthday. How could you be so cruel to her?"
The reporters in the room were like sharks smelling blood, their cameras clicking incessantly.
The flashlights lit up the hall like daylight, capturing every detail of this
high-society drama, every word and every expression.
Juniper glared at Wendy, her eyes burning with a desire to tear her apart.
At that moment, several cameras were trained on her, the reporters behind them eagerly anticipating some sensational news from her outburst.
Just as the tension reached its peak, a tall, imposing figurestepped in front of Wendy like a protective wall.
Alexander's mere presence caused the reporters to instinctively step back, lowering their microphones, not daring to act rashly in front of him.
Alexander's face was dark with barely contained anger. "You got it wrong.Sarah hired the man in the video to humiliate Wendy. Anyone with ears could hear the conversation clearly. Do you think everyone here is a fool?"
Ethan's face turned pale.
Juniper had lost all reason, screaming madly, "You're always defending Wendy, of course you'd take her side! Poor Sarah, being maliciously slandered by you all!"
"Mom!" Ethan cried out in panic, trying to interrupt.
He knew well that the Turner family was not someone the Collins family could easily provoke.
Wendy's smile was cold. "Alexander is merely stating the facts. Sarah framed me again and again. This time, I simply defended myself."
"No! You're lying!" Sarah's voice was hoarse from her earlier screaming."You vile woman! You ruined my birthday party on purpose!"
She threw herself into Ethan's arms, clutching his shirt desperately, sobbing her heart out. "Ethan! Look at how cruel she is! You have to avenge me!"
She knew her dignity and reputation were gone.
But even so,she couldn't stand the thought of Wendy walking away unscathed.
"Wendy, no matter what, you were once Sarah's sister-in-law. If she did something wrong, you could have talked to me privately. Why make such a scene?" Ethan said, trying to appear reasonable.
Wendy gave Ethan a cold look. ""Sister-in-law? Stop making me feel sick.Don't forget how the Collins family treated me. Have you all forgotten?"
Her words elicited gasps and murmurs from the crowd.
Wendy felt a wave of nausea looking at Ethan's hypocritical face.
Three years of'marriage, and she had never seen through Ethan's true nature. Now, just a short time after their divorce, his true colors were clear.
"Ethan, when your mother and Sarah came to my workplace, falsely accusing me and forcing the school to fire me, where were you? At the Turner family's party, you saw them humiliate me. And now,you pretend to be the good guy because your interests are at stake, right?"
"If you had been honest from the start, admitting your feelings for Lydia instead of pretending to amicably divorce me, they wouldn't have spread rumors about me cheating. And now, you stand here spouting nonsense.Don't you find it disgusting?"
"What are you saying?" Ethan's face turned as white as a sheet.
He had never denied his feelings for Lydia but had no idea about Juniper and Sarah's actions against Wendy.
Still, he glanced at Alexander with a complex expression and said, "My mom and Sarah were wrong to spread lies, but I still have doubts about your fidelity."
Since Wendy had stripped him of his dignity, he saw no reason to respect her.
Alexander was about to retort when Wendy gently tugged his sleeve, her gaze fixed on Ethan, her voice cold but firm.
"Ethan, you need evidence to back your words. Slandering me in front of all these witnesses is illegal. I have the right to sue you for defamation and protect my reputation."
