Chapter 98: Chapter 98

Ethan's face twisted through a range of emotions, like a painter mixing colors on a palette.

After a long pause, he finally managed to calm down, gritting his teeth as he muttered, "I don't have any proof."

"Then shut up and quit spreading lies. Focus on Sarah instead. Do you want tomorrow's headlines to be 'Ms. Collins' scandalous video with a stranger?"

Wendy's eyes gleamed with mockery as she glanced at Sarah.

Sarah, reeling from the barrage of accusations, slowly regained her composure.

Her eyes darted around as she quickly retorted, "That video clearly shows someone harassing me. They didn't succeed. I'm the real victim here!"

She was trying to flip the script, painting herself as the innocent party, hoping to win sympathy from the crowd.

Wendy scoffed inwardly, immediately seeing through Sarah's act.

But with so many reporters present, Wendy wasn't in a rush to expose her.She was curious to see what other tricks Sarah and the Collins family might pull.

Since this circus no longer concerned her, she had lost interest in whatever nonsense they might spew next, feeling that listening to them any longer would be a waste of time.

She Jifted her gaze, scanning the luxurious yet awkwardly tense hall, her

eyes searching.

Finally, in a quieter corner, she spotted, the figure she had been longing to see-Lyndon.

Lyndon was dressed in a perfectly tailored suit, holding a glass of amber whiskey, a faint smile playing on his lips as he watched she chaos unfold on stage.

His detached demeanor made it seem as though the surrounding commotion was nothing but a fleeting spectacle, completely unrelated to him.

Wendy's lips curved into a genuine smile as she gracefully walked towards him:

Alexander naturally followed behind her.

Wendy reached Lyndon and extended her hand confidently, her words clear and concise, "Mr. Myles, hello."

A hint of confusion flashed in Lyndon's eyes, but he politely placed his hand in Wendy's, responding warmly,"Hello, and you are?"

"I'm Wendy from Blue Ridge Medical Center. I've been trying to contact you since I heard you returned to the country, but I haven't had any luck.I apologize for the sudden approach."

"No problem at all. And this is?" Lyndon turned his gaze to Alexander, with a hint of curiosity.

Alexander stood tall, his presence commanding. Even while following Wendy, his stern aura remained intact.

He nodded slightly in greeting, his voice deep. "I'm Alexander."

Lyndon studied him for a moment, then recognition dawned in his eyes,"We've met before. You consulted me about your brother's eye condition, right?"

Alexander nodded slightly.

Wendy's eyes widened in surprise, then she felt a bit disappointed, muttering softly, "So Mr. Myles already knows about Chris' situation."

Alexander, attuned to her emotions, noticed the subtle shift in her mood, a gentle warmth appearing in his otherwise cold eyes.

What was she regretting?

He recalled that Wendy wanted to meet Lyndon not just for the competition but for another reason she hadn't shared with Chris.

It seemed she was determined to see Lyndon for Chris' sake.

"How's your brother's eye condition now?" Lyndon asked, genuine concern in his voice.

Alexander replied softly, "It hasn't gotten worse for a while."

"Well, that's something, at least."

Wendy shook her head lightly, her brows furrowed, "It's not a longterm solution. The fact that it hasn't worsened means he hasn't faced any severe issues yet."

"But if something happens, the consequences could be serious."

Alexander gazed at her, his eyes full of tenderness. He knew Wendy

genuinely cared about Chris.

"You're right. Mr. Turner approached me hoping for a cure, but my hand was injured before, and I can't perform the delicate artificial cornea transplant surgery. I regret letting you down," Lyndon sighed, his words filled with remorse.

Wendy thought for a moment, her eyes hopeful, "Mr. Myles, there's an innovation competition at Horizon Medical College in four days. I'd like to invite you to be a judge. Would you be able to attend?"

Lyndon hesitated, then apologized, "I'm afraid I can't. My schedule is packed, and I won't be in the country for long. Besides, I haven't judged a competition in years."

"Mr. Myles, your academic theories are a benchmark for Horizon Medical College students and the entire field. I know you've declined many international invitations to judge, but I still hope you'll consider this."Wendy said earnestly, her eyes full of hope.

She carefully took out a neatly bound stack of documents from her bag and handed them to Lyndon.

"These are research papers from Horizon Medical College students based on your theories. They contain many innovative insights. I hope you'll take a look."

A hint of surprise crossed Lyndon's face as he accepted the documents and began to browse through them, "Thank you. T'll read them thoroughly."

Wendy breathed a sigh of relief.

She hadn't been sure she could persuade Lyndon, but handing over the

students' work felt like a small victory.

As she prepared to leave, Lyndon suddenly called out to her, "Ms. Knight, what do you think of tonight's drama?"

Wendy followed his gaze, puzzled, pointing to the chaotic scene on stage,"You mean over there?"

"Of course. What else would I be referring to? I must say, Ms. Knight, you handled it well. If it were me, I might have been more ruthless," Lyndon said, gesturing towards the control panel.

Wendy instantly understood. It seemed neither Sarah's antics nor her own counterattack had escaped Lyndon's notice.

"Mr. Myles, you're too kind. I was merely defending myself."

Lyndon finished his whiskey in one gulp, placed the empty glass on the table, and stood up, leaving with measured steps.

Wendy and Alexander exchanged a glance, both chuckling softly.

Wendy raised an eyebrow, "You knew all along?"

She was referring to the USB switch.

Alexander's lips curved into a faint smile, "I always keep an eye on you.You did well."

"Are you teasing me? Mr. Myles and you both saw through my plan. It was pretty rough," Wendy pouted, thinking her plan was flawless, only to realize it had been seen through.

Alexander's deep eyes showed a hint of melancholy, "Why didn't you ask for my help? If I had acted, there wouldn't have been any flaws."
