Chapter 41: Chapter 41

Amelia's world was pitch black; she felt nothing but fear, cold, and endless tension.

Who was it, and why was she always the one getting hurt?

With these questions swirling in her mind. Amelia drifted into a shivering nightmare.

Meanwhile, Chris was at the hospital, changing his bandages.

For some reason, he was super irritable today, his heart filled with a vague unease, like something bad had happened.

"Mr. Spencer, you can't keep letting the wound split open like this, or it'll cause serious complications," the doctor warned.

Chris gave him a casual glance but didn't respond.

Ryder suddenly burst in, "Mr. Spencer, something's happened."

Chris shot up, "Spill it!"

Ryder's forehead was covered in cold sweat, his face pale, "Mrs. Spencer,she..."

"What happened?" Chris's face changed dramatically as he grabbed Ryder by the collar, "Speak quickly."

"She had a car accident and fell into the river," Ryder's voice trembled slightly.

In the past, this news might not have meant much to Chris; he didn't care if something happened to Amelia.

But recently, Ryder had noticed a change in Chris's attitude towards her.

"Damn it!" Chris staggered back a step, gritting his teeth, "Why are you still standing there? Go save her!"

He rushed out the door.

Ryder wanted to say he had already sent people, but before he could speak,Chris was gone.

At Pinnacle Culture Media Ltd1., in the conference room.

"Mr.Howard," Sable quickly stepped forward and whispered a few words in Lucius's ear.

Lucius's face changed slightly, "Are you sure?"

"Absolutely sure, Amelia fell in, and she hasn't been rescued yet," Sable's voice was panicked, worried that Lucius would get angry.

A month ago, Lucius had ordered her to keep an eye on Amelia and ensure her safety.

Lucius was silent for several seconds.

In the large conference room, all the senior leaders were watching him.

"Mr. Howard, is something wrong?" A director sitting next to him asked solemnly.

Lucius waved his hand lightly and said to Sable, "Go rescue her, and make sure everything is foolproof."

She nodded quickly.

Lucius added, "No, contact Shawn, let him go, you assist him, don't let Chris's people finad you, and don't let anyone know Amelia's whereabouts."

Until the evening, those people were still busy.

Many passersby were confused, seeing a tall young man in the crowd, anxiously looking around, repeatedly trying to go into the water to rescue someone, only to be pulled back forcefully.

"Mr. Spencer, there are already enough people down there, please, don't risk your life, you're not in good condition..."

"Shut up!" Chris snapped impatiently, "Don't come back until you find Amelia!"

"Chris, what are you doing? Your wound has split open again, are you out of your mind?" Leila rushed over, grabbing his arm, desperately trying to get him back to the car, at least out of the wind, his face was completely pale.

Chris pushed her away harshly, "Get lost!"

Leila cried, her figure weak and fraġile.

Amelia, wrapped in a thick blanket, quietly watched the scene from a car by the roadside.

She didn't know whether to thank fate or hate it.

When she sank to the bottom of the river, she blacked out for a bit but quickly came to.

Maybe it wwas because, at that moment, she thought of the baby in her belly and the decision she had finally made to start a fresh new life.

A strong will to survive and a sense of determination made her wake up,holding her breath with all her might, slowly floating up from the bottom.

She found herself carried a long way downstream, far from where she had fallen in.

As dusk fell, visibility on the river was low. WithouIt alerting anyone, she quietly floated a thousand feet downstream and then climbed ashore in a spot without cameras.

Her phone had sunk with the car, and she couldn't contact anyone related to Chris.

She thought of Shawn, through whom she could find Lucius.

She borrowed a phone from a passerby and dialed Shawn's number.

"Stop looking, you're about to freeze to death. Let's get you to the hospital now." Shawn rolled up the car window, looking at Amelia's pale face in the passenger seat, feeling sorry for her, and raised the temperature in the car by a couple of degrees.

Amelia, shivering, wrapped herself tightly and forced a smile, "Thank you,Shawn."

She felt an urge to cry. In less than a month, she had faced death twice.

Fortunately, this time, she didn't rely on anyone's help.

It turned out she could be this strong.

"If you want to thank me, please follow me." Shawn raised an eyebrow and smiled,"Sit tight."

Soon, she was taken to an ordinary mid-range apartment complex in the

suburbs.

Shawn had found a doctor to check her condition.

"Please, save my baby." Toavoid revealing her identity, Amelia wore a mask and sunglasses. As soon as she spoke, Shawn was stunned.

"When did you get pregnant? It surprised me!" His eyes were particularly complex, a flash of sadness passing through them.

Amelia had no time to explain, only repeating, "I must save the baby."

The doctor examined her, frowning, "Your body is cold, muscles stiff, there's a high risk of miscarriage, you must take medication immediately to protect the pregnancy."

"Please." Amelia's eyes welled up with tears.

This was her only child left. If she lost him too, what would be the point of living?

"I just heard you fell into the water not before long. You seem to be cursed with bad luck. Maybe you should go to a church and pray to God to get rid of the bad luck?" Shawn muttered.

Amelia was too weak to speak.

It seemed all her suffering began when she married Chris.

His family, the women around him, always brought her various pressures and negative impacts, and this time was definitely not an accident.

She was exhausted.

The doctor soon brought the medication, and Amelia took it without

hesitation.

At this moment, Shawn came back with two large bags.

"Rest here for now. These are all the supplies I bouight for you, enough for half a month." Shawn advised, "I have to go. If I stay here, Chris might trace me and find you."

He was very considerate.

"By the way, take this phone. I was surprised that you remembered my number. I've entered my number in it just in case. If anything happens, contact me, got it?" Shawn's tone was like they were at a spy meeting.

Amelia silently took the phone, looking at him seriously, "Thank you."
